Basic Purpose and ObjectiveCNC Machinist maximizes efficiency through the operation process and observes multiple CNC Lathes that use single or multiple spindles with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms to machine metal bar stock for the manufacture of various types of aerospace products. Processes methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesMust understand programming requirements for Cubic GT Mini, ETech ADB-X3 Dill & Broach, etc.Must be able to write programming codes for the manufacture of aerospace products.Must be able to make necessary corrections to programs.Must be familiar with ID and OD threading and all tooling associated with the operation.Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feed.Observes operation is to specification on CNC machine to produce various types of aerospace products.Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.Remove and replace dull cutting tools.Perform preventive maintenance.Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.Lift work pieces to machines manually or with the use of hand tools.Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts.Prepares and verifies production machine operations on trial run to ensure accuracy of machine settings.Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.Recognizes improper machine functioning and recognizes defects in machinery, measuring instruments or equipment.Notifies or informs lead or immediate supervisor when machine maintenance is needed.Reads & studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.Skills and Formal Training Requirements/ExperienceAble to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.  AUD Rancho Dominguez
